Book Note: The Awakening Ground by David Chaim Smith #1

The reifying impulse of being can be bathed in gnostic yearning, which cuts through both being and nonbeing at the root. Longing to mitigate reification is the most radical shift the mind is capable of, and it is the only way that truly open luminosity can be directly realized.

Smith's point here would, at a first glance, seem to be in keeping with post-modern anti-essentialism, until one goes further and discovers that he is taking great pains to explain an active experience which is, by its very nature, probably indescribable (which is in keeping with gnostic and mystic experience).
